7 Mini-Lessons from the Science of Getting Rich + PDF Download

Even if you don't believe in the power of manifestation or the law of attraction (or assumption), this list might still help you.

You might have heard or read the story of how Rhonda Byrnes received The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Walters (aka Wallace Wattles) from her daughter, and this eventually became the basis of her own book The Secret.

Some people believe in the power of the Law of Attraction mentioned in those 2 books and gush at how successful ones like Oprah applied that in their lives.

Others are skeptical and insist that they simply followed some form of shady marketing, or they were just born lucky and were in the right place at the right time.

the science of getting rich by wallace wattlesWhichever side you're on, hopefully, you'll still find this helpful especially since we aren't gonna talk about how the law of attraction or manifestation works here.

We do have a free unlocked editable PDF version of The Science of Getting Rich which you can download here, and at the end of this post. (NO email-sign-ups-required-so-we-can-spam-you-hooray, nor virus-laden-adfly links or any other BS.)

Here are 7 things from Wallace Wattle's book that made us go 'oooooh' and 'wooaaaah'.

1. Inspire the poor instead of doing charity work.

Get rich; that is the best way you can help the poor. - Chpt. 9
Donating to charity is actually not a good idea unless you're helping victims of calamities or some other crisis who need immediate temporary assistance.

The keyword here is temporary.

Wallace Wattles is against the idea of doing the typical charity work for the poor regularly because that only encourages them to be entitled.

What we need to do depends on 2 things:

  • If you haven't "made it" yet, then it is important that you get rich first
  • If you have already "made it", then you can share how you're doing it.

Show the way to riches, aka your mansion.
If you're in the latter already-made-it camp, you may choose to start a conglomerate of businesses (if you haven't already), help others do so by investing in their start-ups, create more farms and food production facilities, or fund some research. Not only are you helping your country's economy more, you also open doors for people to see opportunities.

As what the author keeps mentioning in his book, the poor just need inspiration and guidance.

Show them the way.

2. Save yourself first.

Get rid of the idea that God wants you to sacrifice yourself for others, and that you can secure his favor by doing so; God requires nothing of the kind. - Chpt. 5
If you're in the haven't-made-it-yet camp, help others because you genuinely want to, and not because it will grant you some divine priority to get your prayers answered immediately.

In line with this, it is important to stay in touch with the current trends because going with the flow instead of against it will make life easier for you. Be there, especially when it's just starting out so it's easier to spot huge opportunities. Opportunities do exist at other times too but they're not that easy to see when it's already saturated.

Right now, the trend of AI machine learning has just begun. It's starting to create a new era where yes, most people will lament about losing their jobs. But it's also a tremendous opportunity for everyone to level up one's skill set and aim to start new projects, a new business maybe, or just something, and leave the monotonous repetitive tasks to AI.

Barring alien invasion or some threatening biological mutation that can wipe us out, humanity is destined for greatness.

If you're confused and don't know the way yet either, find someone who does and learn from that person. Don't randomly find and follow a mentor though, especially those self-proclaimed financial gurus.

In Japan, "sensei" is the term for teachers. However, only students use "sensei". Teachers don't call themselves "sensei."

A real financial guru doesn't call himself a guru. Other people do.

It's the same thing with being an entrepreneur.

wolf of scam

Most of these self-proclaimed gurus are just faking it. They're earning money from YOU-- from the paid seminars to private coaching, INSTEAD OF actually applying the things they preach themselves first and foremost, and earning money from other endeavors that make the world a better place.

Not all financial mentors are crooks though, and it's not wrong to earn money from those seminars and coaching (and even from financial blogs, e-books, and YouTube). Everyone has the right to be compensated for the time & effort spent giving something of value.

But if the financial success they're claiming is solely connected to whatever that is that they're trying to hard sell YOU, then roll your eyes, turn your back and never come back.

You know better.

And the better option in finding a mentor when you don't know any from your immediate circle is to read autobiographical books of successful people with certain personalities or humble beginnings similar to yours -- whether it's Warren Buffet, Elon MuskOprah or Dmitry Rybolovlev, or whoever else inspires you.

3. Stay humble.

Wherever you find a boastful person, you find one who is secretly doubtful and afraid... Look out for the temptation to seek for authority, to become a “master,” to be considered as one who is above the common herd, to impress others by lavish display, and so on. - Chpt. 14
If you're in the have-made-it-(but still want more) camp, congratulations.

Also, it's OK to aspire more.

As Wallace Wattles also mentioned in his book, it is the tendency of all living things to grow and be more. That's the main essence of abundance.

If one would look closely, those who are flexing especially on social media (#blessed) are actually doing so to prove something.

It means they haven't made it (yet).

Or they're trying to sell you a lifestyle so you'll buy their bots or e-book or friendship (watch out).

The ones who have genuinely made it, yes do enjoy the finer things, but they don't feel the need to brag about those things because that's tacky and not classy.

And they don't actually have the time to do so since they're busy enough with more important things.

For the most part, ordinary people don't meet them often. If they do come out and mingle with the masses, they're actually low-key. The extreme ones adopt The Gray Man Lifestyle™ and just blend with the surroundings because they don't wanna attract attention, especially the bad kind.

A few who are genuinely rich AND flashy (remember the #richkidsofinstagram?), were born that way (more like trapped, to be honest), and just piggybacking on the success of their parents for now.

They're just bored.

So for now, *flashflash*.

Actually doing so isn't bad. In fact, these "kids" are following #1 above which is inspiring the haven't-made-it-yet camp by showing images of wealth in their minds even if they themselves haven't figured out the way yet and made it on their own themselves.

They feel trapped in following their parents' footsteps at the moment, which leads us to the next lesson.

4. Follow what you really want.

...You will get rich most satisfactorily if you do that which you WANT to do. Doing what you want to do is life; and there is no real satisfaction in living if we are compelled to be forever doing something which we do not like to do, and can never do what we want to do. - Chpt. 13
Life is too short to follow someone's agenda-- unless that's aligned with your own too.

Along with good manners and etiquette, self-awareness should be thought in kindergarten. Learning self-awareness as early as you can, together with being honest, is obviously the key to figuring out what you really want and getting that the earliest possible.

But if you haven't reached your goals yet in your specified timeline, it doesn't mean you failed. Like traveling, getting rich is an adventure too, so enjoy the journey.

Contrary to popular belief:

No. DON'T "Fake it til you make it."

Why not be genuine right from the start?

"I haven't made it yet," and that's OK. We all go through or have gone through that.

But don't pressure yourself either.

If it seems like you've done everything and still haven't achieved what you want, either it means that the Universe is cooking up something even better, and it's on its way; or you're not being clear enough with what you really want, which brings us back to self-awareness mentioned above.
...No one needs to take exercises to concentrate his mind on a thing which he really wants; it is the things you do not really care about which require effort to fix your attention upon them. - Chpt. 8

Remember the things you enjoy doing the most. Start from there.

Sure, following your passion doesn't guarantee success. But you never know unless you try.

But if you're in a dark place, you might not be getting what you want because you're self-sabotaging in a number of ways.

One of which is by being highly competitive.

Competitions are bad.

5. Never join competitions

You must get rid of the thought of competition. You are to create, not to compete for what is already created. - Chpt. 5
Sure, it's fun to engage in one sometimes. That adrenaline rush of pushing yourself to your limit in the spirit of competition. Contests, for instance, give you a safe virtual place to live test a strategy and see results in real-time.

But when you stay competitive even in real life, it's disastrous.

It's hard to get out of it once you feel trapped in the negative cycle of one-upping each other, or even trying to one-up an AI or some algorithm.

Just look at old-time YouTubers.

If you're slowly becoming complacent and lacking drive or motivation, or simply want to have some excitement in real life, joining competitions can give you that boost and entertainment.

But if you're not concerned with that and don't have issues about lethargy, being competitive with others is a waste of time and energy.

the lightWhatever competitive situation you engage in, it is nothing but an illusion.

That includes being competitive in real life (the dangerous kind of competition), like honor ranking in school, career ladder at work, and the number of views and subs, and followers on social media.

Whatever success you achieve there will never be permanent.

Competitions are created by the game masters, the sports event organizers, the school directors, the employers, and the heads of the state, not originally to exert superiority (unless we're talking about authoritarian regimes or some insecure boss) but to give that temporary push that will boost people's productivity and inspire them to find their own purpose.

The key is knowing when to QUIT.

It's scary when these leaders forget and become competitive themselves too.

Being constantly competitive is like manually testing how much voltage your light fixtures and electronics can handle.

The longer you do that, the sooner you burn out.

Which is sad because you have a choice to do something better.

6. Just do it

...Act upon your present environment with all your heart, and with all your strength, and with all your mind. - Chpt. 11
The more you focus on just doing it, instead of letting your mind wander and worry, the sooner you'll meet your goals.

Once you do, you'll eventually become solely concerned about minding your own business, instead of keeping tabs on your peers and neighbors, and coveting thy neighbor's goods (and even wife).

You finally transcend what Wallace Wattles calls as the "competitive plane".

You're able to free yourself from that illusion and see the reality of abundance.

7. Be always thankful

The grateful mind is constantly fixed upon the best; therefore it tends to become the best; it takes the form or character of the best, and will receive the best. - Chpt. 7

Pretty self-explanatory.

    1. Hi, oh sorry we don't have anything right now specifically about it but you might wanna check out Dan Lok's Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/DanLok. Not affiliated with him or anything lol, but he's pretty entertaining and motivational. He got videos about closing deals, finding the right clients, and the like. He also has a book (F U Money), but couldn't vouch for it since we haven't read that book yet.
